Sanity in the church

A book I read recently “The dangerous act of worship” made an interesting statement.

“Have a sane assessment of your abilities”

This made me think. Think about pride and doing too much. Think about how many people in ministry arent so good at delegating and people keep piling more on their plate. Funny thing is…If we had a more sane assessment of our abilities maybe more would get done in the kingdom.

Thoughts?

“…Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.” Romans 12:3

It’s easy to white knuckle things for me cuz I’m just sure no one will get things done quite as good as I can. Pride all the way!

I also think of “One body, many parts” which suggests to me that no, Tam, you can not do it all and weren’t designed to do so, but there are others who are equipped and qualified to come along side you and further the Kingdom.

Just a couple of my thoughts…

What came to mind was Paul talking about talent(s). If our talent(s) are God-given, and we are children of God……it borders on abuse of talent(s).

I have come by to say hi, I was referred from the theworshipcommunity.com. This site is sweet, nice layout, colors and design. Looks like you had fun in the process.

I not sure what to say I have written in forms many times but I don’t know much blogging. Can I share something on my heart lately? It’s amazing to suffering in Christ Jesus and what makes it easy is I seek his cross daily. I recently started visualizing the cross in my mind, heart, body and on all things in my life. I find this is really working for me during the current hard times. He’s the calm in the storm and as I keep my eyes on the cross I feel safe in his glory. Like the good word says seek first the kingdom. I am challenged daily always thinking, am I currently seeking him now in what I am doing. Weather it’s work, time with family, songwriting or just thinking about stuff, I try so hard to put the kingdom first. What a difference this has been making in my life the last week as I get better at it. I don’t picture Christ on the cross because hes risen but I see the symbol of what the cross means in regards to eternity. I have written it on my heart and I know am marked for salvation and that brings me though all of life’s hardships and goodness.

    In Christ,

    Lyle

Lyle: thanks for the comment. and welcome. Focus on the cross is very important which is what makes communion what it is. Thanks for your thoughts

I’ve heard good things about that book but now I’m definitely going to have to check it out.

I think pride hinders us from achieving so many things in life — And especially from taking care of what He would have us do.
