May 6th 2007 Set List

I thought Id post today the format for our service. It really shows how we meld in the CEC ancient and modern. This is the sheet I use when I put together my set list. It didn’t align wuite right in the post but its still readable.

As always Worship leaders post your set lists or a link to where we can find your set list.

This weeks service was great. opened with chorus from here is our king into raise up the crown. We had fun with introducing undignified and took it to let the praises ring with my arrangement of it. (doh…ive gotta post that). Going into amazing grace was awesome..we actually started with the chorus. HA HA HA I got stuck singing the verses sometimes the original way and 2 times tomlin way. I introduced vicky beechings above all else. Communion worship was great going into baloche offering. What a great song that is. And then we ended with an amped up version of blessed be your name. That was wicked fun. It was an all acoustic day. I played blessed be your name with capo on 2 in g formation.

Hey nice set this week. I would love to hear how your transitions go ( when you meld two songs together). Those are key in making a worship flow. Also I should have our set up tomorrow complete with confessional Ragamuffin style.

As a side note I like the new banner. Do you have any special brushes you use in photoshop? If so could you share. I have some sweet ones too if you wanna trade. I like that parchment effect. All good stuff.

    Have a great one man.

Hey man…can’t wait to see the confessional…Ive gotta get a video camera donated to me. lol. ANYBODY? ANYBODY? BUELER?

hmm…as far as blending songs…I think I blend too much.lol I like flow and less of concert feel where there is start and stop start and stop…etc. It worked great in the processional this week…I did here is our king in E which is wicked low, but on the chorus only its not too low. I did it rather slow and sang he is jesus 4 times and then went right into all hail the power of jesus name. I think this blend works amazing. I would love another worship leader to try this one because its basically welcoming the king and then worshiping the king.

Glad you like the banner. I get my photos from istockphoto.com. I use custom brushes and brushes I found online. I would be appy to share and give you my brush resources.
I am a huge fan of grunge brushes. I wnet to a photoshop conference last year and learned a ton about brushes and using the internal brushes from photoshop from the king himself bert monroy.

DUDE BERT is the man! I went to a workshop with him too. I love the grunge brushes too. So what sites do you get yours from. I get mine mostly from deviantart.com Just search brushes.

Here is our setlist from yesterday:

G – Meet With Me (Hiebert)
    B – Marvelous Light (Hall)
D – Your Love is Deep (Smith)
D – My Savior My God (Shust)
G – Unto the One (Papa)

Our services are only an hour, so we usually only do 5-6 songs. Sometimes I think it’d be nice to have longer services and be a little more deliberate with the pacing.

    Here is our set list:

Ab – Immortal, Invisible – Chalmers Smith

    F – Celebrate Jesus – Don Moen
Bb – Shout to the Lord – Darlene Zscech
C – Let Us Rejoice and Be Glad – Gerrit Hansen

Em – The Battle Belongs to the Lord – Jamie Owens-Collins
Em – God and Man At Table Are Sat Down – Rev. R.J. Stamps

Eb – Be Thou My Vision – Eleanor Hull

“Immortal, Invisible” works very well as a processional if you’ve got a “high praise” Psalm like 145.

“Let Us Rejoice and Be Glad” fit the Revelation reading quite well, even though I’m not a huge fan of the song.

“The Battle Belongs to the Lord” was actually not in the plan, but it fit so well with the sermon that I decided to plug it in. Being in Em, it fit with the one that I’d already chosen.

I’m still working on learning how to “flow” songs. I grew up in a church that sang one hymn, stopped, sang another hymn, stopped, etc. Because of this, I actually tend to like silence in between the songs.

Question for you all: Before the service starts, do you tend to provide music, or do you have a silent church so people can pray and prepare for worship? We’ve done both, and I’m curious what others do.

Worshipguitarist: Nice set buddy. Love marvelous light…did you get the new cut of it from passion 07? how is that shust CD? I just got in the mail both Papa CD’s …cant wait to listen to them.
Our service starts at 10 and ends aroun 11:45. We have a definate order but also great freedom. With communion every week it makes it a little longer service, but honestly 1:45 isnt very long. A one hour seems very very short wow. I assume you do worship, sermon, pray and then end?

Darren: Great hymn. shout to the lord in Bb …wow thats high…I do that in G and then transpose it to A.

I love be thou my vision…check out Eoghan Heaslip version in hymns 4 worship CD. great version.

We sometimes do music before service…sometimes not…I usually have in song show plus running welcome message and sermon graphic till processional.

Re: “Shout to the Lord” in Bb – Actually, it’s pretty low in that key – the fourth note is A below middle C, which is just about as low as I can go (I’m a tenor) without growling. Maybe that means I’m playing it an octave lower than everyone thinks (because my guitarist said the same thing when I told her that’s the key I play in).
