A Collect for Purity

Latin composition

Amen.

English translation

  • Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known and from you no secrets are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name, through Christ our Lord, Amen

Thanks for the Ancient posts. The collect for purity is one of my favorite collects. One of the things I love about the Episcopal Liturgy is it is so “meaty” and reverant.

Yes it is one of the things i also love. I am no longer in the ECUSA…I’m now in the charismatic episcopal church. which isnt associated with the ECUSA…and i have no clue why it even has episcopal in the name. lol…
Anyway…our denomination belives in the three streams ..sacramental (communion and liturgy) evangelical (bible based preaching and founded on the word, and charismatic (vibrant worship)

Frankly, I’m not sure how long our church will be part of the ECUSA. What a mess the American church is in…heartbreaking.

Yeah it is very very sad. You should let your priest know about the ICCEC. I was in the church in NY when it left the ECUSA in 1995. I am very happy with what the CEC stands for. go to my church sites: http://www.stmichaelschurchri.com and http://www.stmichaels.wordpress.com or click the CEC logo to the right to go to the main ICCEC page

I will check out your church sites for sure.

We are waiting to see what final stance our diocese takes later this summer. (Whole other can of worms there…) Our rector has told me that he will align with the Anglican Communion if we split. I will ask him about the ICCEC though. Thanks for your input.
