Brian Doerksen Holy God

It’s been a long time coming for some new CD reviews for something other than beeching or crowder.
I was going to buy this CD when it came out and instead got it as a gift from a deacon in the church. This is the new CD from Brian Doerkson called Holy God. At first listen I wasn’t too impressed it was simple and nothing earth shattering. After a few more listens this CD began to sink into my chest. It isn’t a chart topping Tomlin CD and probably will never even hit the radio.
Even so you need to buy this CD. The lyrics and music are so simple and it is a call to prayer and worship. It takes you to a reverent place and you find yourself in total awe of the mystery of the cross.

These are the songs listed below..the ones in bold my favorites. A bunch of these can be done in church. All in all it is a great worship CD that is perfect for coming into the holy of holies. It has an ancient feel to it and that actually makes it quite relevant to todays worship and liturgical/modern settings.

I was blessed to attend a songwriter session with Brian out at Saddleback a few years ago. The man is real. His humility and God-focus are amazing…probably one of the reasons that most people have never heard of him by name, and why this is his FIRST studio record.
    Looking forward to hearing it…

I just found this blog and had to say “WOW!” I first heard “Holy God” (#3) at the Draw Near and Hear conference in May at Foothills Christian Church in El Cajon, CA and was blown away. It is one of the most amazing worship songs I’ve ever sung as it has a unique effect on me, connecting me every time I sing it, including listening to a 30 second sample!

The following month at the same venue was Future Quest youth conference. The worship band was Cedar, an in house band of musicians who all have “real” jobs but play so well together. They did a “Rock” version and performed the song very well. I still haven’t heard Brian’s full version, but I will be buying the CD soon. What a blessing to have people bringing God’s heart to us through worship music. God is Awesome!

    Blessings on you!

    Grandpa “G” o-u-t!

Hey everyone!! I LUV Holy God it has so much meaning and every time I sing it I can just feel God’s presence and it so awesome!! I went on my first missions trip this year and I mean everything went so wrong the day of my trip!! I missed my flight and the second flight I got on the plane was broken and then I had to get on a third plane and I mean it was horrible and I definitely felt Satan bringing me down and telling me that I was wasn’t good enough and like ur too young to go help people (I’m 16) but I had the song Holy God on my mp3 player and I just listened to it over and over again and God helped through and I made it down to Guatemala and was able to share the gospel with so many people!! and we did VBS and we had 500 kids show up it was unbelievable!!

If u have any questions regarding mission trips feel free to contact me at JCDAMBest@aol.com I will be more than willing to share my stories
