Un-Calculated Risk

4 Whoever watches the wind will not plant;

whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.

5 As you do not know the path of the wind,

or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb,

so you cannot understand the work of God,

the Maker of all things.

6 Sow your seed in the morning,

and at evening let not your hands be idle,

for you do not know which will succeed,

whether this or that,

or whether both will do equally well.

Ecclesiastes 11:4-6

As this verse says there is no perfect time for taking a risk. There are always things that will get in the way. There will always be ways to justify not stepping out. You won’t be ready to get married, to have kids, to switch jobs, to move, or to follow God. Many of those things even years after doing them you will not feel “ready.” We can wait forever for that perfect moment to dive in and do something

“Living at risk is jumping off the cliff and building your wings on the way down.” — Ray Bradbury

I agree with the quote above, but I also think we can plan and be prepared. We can make calculated risks. I have done both of the types of risks and no matter which one you choose if you never jump off that cliff you will never see any results.

We need to have faith that when we step out in faith that God will steer us where he wants us.

My dad always said that you can’t steer a parked car. We were created to create. We were Created to take risks, but we have to push the gas pedal so God can steer us.

Will we fail? Maybe..Maybe not, but I think when a person is 80 years old thinking about everything they could have done but never even tried out of fear, that is real failure.

God wants us to succeed and He wants to be a part of our dreams and creations. We need to Give it up to God and be in prayer so we can hear and see how He is steering us and then Push that gas pedal.
