Is it just me or does this verse freak you out?

8 “If your hand or your foot gets in the way of God, chop it off and throw it away. You’re better off maimed or lame and alive than the proud owners of two hands and two feet, godless in a furnace of eternal fire. 9 And if your eye distracts you from God, pull it out and throw it away. You’re better off one-eyed and alive than exercising your twenty-twenty vision from inside the fire of hell. Matthew 18:8-9

I was thinking about this the other day. So I lie, I get too angry, I lust, I hurt, I use my feet and walk into situations that are not good and my hands. Are you there also? I’m not perfect.
Seems that if I took this literally I would be walking around with no eyes, feet, hands, or tongue.

Thank God His grace is perfect.

I need every bodies help!

As many of you have been reading I put together a multi-church worship team here in the area and I know God has some big things for this crew in the future.

With that said the band needs a name.

There are a few directions I want to go with it. either in the vein of unity or something having to do with worship changing or stirring up the area.

So far I have one name.

DELVE – the word means to pour into, to loosen or upturn the earth.
I love the connotation of that. My keyboard guy though says it reminds him of Devo..oh boy!

So everybody who reads this thing help me out. That means all 400 of you.

#1. do you like Delve and it’s meaning

#2. got a better idea…love to hear it..

Think fast!

thanks

Here is a great responsive reading from Dan Wilt. I love this and wish I could use it this year, but I already have my service planned. Do yourself a favor and go check out his great blog.

GOOD FRIDAY READING: IN YOUR CROSS

All: In Your cross, we truly see

Celebrant: The God who suffers,

Community: To show us the magnificence of love.

Celebrant: The God who offers,

Community: To purchase those He made by love.

Celebrant: The God who chooses,

Community: To sacrifice His greatest love.

Celebrant: The God who conquers,

Community: The pow’rs of ages by force of love.

Women: In Your cross, we see the God who nurtures, shares and gives.

Men: In Your cross, we see the God who suffers, dies, then lives.

Celebrant: In Your cross, we see the pathway,

Community: In Your cross, we see the fullness,

All: In Your cross, we see the supremacy of love that suffers, redeems, sacrifices and rises in victory.

Celebrant: In Your cross we see humanity freed from powers unseen, within and without. In Your cross, we see the way to life marked by love that faces death, surrenders it’s will, gives without limit, and lives to serve another.

Community: Your life-giving Spirit begins this work of love in us. Your resurrection life seals this work of love for us. Your transforming hope draws this love from us, to be dispensed into our world.

Celebrant: We welcome today Your gifts of new creation,

Community: In our lives and in our world.

All: Your love has won the day. Amen and amen.
