A few weeks ago I started talking to Bridget Willard about maybe collaborating on some music via the wonderful inernet. We worked on a Christmas song that is almost finished and I love it. When I asked Bridget “what’s next?” she sent me a link to some words she posted on her site.

I was instantly drawn in and reworked some of the words and wrote music to it in like 5 minutes. I realized something very quickly. Even if we never collaborate again, God definitely inspired these two songs and I am grateful to have worked on them.

The song below is called AWAKE. It is the “what’s next” song. I am playing it in the key of D, but I will do it in church in the key of E. Keep in mind I am still learning how to play it because it was literally written in minutes. So I mess up. ha ha

I can hear the full band on this one and I can’t wait to play it for real.

Brian K- Drums: Influences are 90′s rock and metal. Also in a speed metal band

Brian O- Bass and Wah: Influences 90′s hardcore

Joel- rhythm & lead guitar, Lead vocals: Influences..Everything from Charlie Hall to Yes to Tori Amos

Rich- Our wicked cool tech guy: He prefers not to be influenced by anybody.

That’s the band until God brings more people into. I have to say that is one cool mix of people and styles.

Cool set this week. I had a blast with the worship. Playing Phil Wickham in a singable key was..dare I say it..RAD!

I love Oh the glory of it all and especially for communion. No clue why but I did see the way in way too love of a key, but it worked any way.

If you are seeing this. Yes I did 2 Tomlin songs. And yes that may just be too many in one set, but it really worked this week.

And ending with I will boast was fantastic. I love Baloche. He writes perfect stuff.

Overall everything went great, but ever since mancation my mind has been racing with tons of stuff. More on that soon.
