This is a part of the wonderful world of the infamous mckinnonblog carnival of Joy

This sunday was a pretty freakin awesome sunday.

We had some huge news this week that I will be sharing more about soon. It’s one part of the reason why i have been absent from the net for the last week. Our church found a building and we signed the lease. WOO HOO.

This is some awesome stuff because God did this hands down. We will be moving from a church building to a storefront on the main drag here and I can’t be more excited. Again more to come on that.

So needless to say the excitement in the building was infectious.

Here is the set this week

Processional:
The Glorious Impossible – Carl Cartee (C)

Praise:
Bless His Name – Tony Sanchez
Everlasting God – Brenton Brown
You Are Good – Kari Jobe

Offering:
Glory to God – Steve Fee

Communion:
Center – Charlie Hall
Healer – Planetshakers

Recessional (closing):
Everything Glorious – Crowder

Let me just say one thing. If you are not doing “the glorious impossible” in your church I feel sorry for you.

A very cool Sunday. Great music and some major answers to prayer. One of my youth has been praying her mom would come to church. She has been taking some major leaps of faith and even annointed her mom with oil this week and prayed for her. Well this week God honored her faithfulness when her mom asked her If she could go to church with her. AWESOME! She had a tough day because the enemy is pushing back so if you can give her a quick prayer and her family that would be great.

I think overall the set was perfect. Everything went smooth this week. After service we had a lunchin and discussed as a church family or pending move and our churches options. Everything went great. Just a real good Sunday.

Worship Text-Fessional:
Wow what a crazy week…thanksgiving came and flew by. We had an awesome thanksgiving.
There are 5 churches in the area that the pastors have been meeting together for prayer every few weeks. One of the pastors is ours (my dad). The others are a non denom, Baptist, Evangelical Free, Charismatic Eucharistic Church (thats us), and A presbyterian. So one day they decided to have a Day before thanksgiving service at the Presbyterian Church and invite all 5 churches. Have any of you ever tried that? It almost never works. Nobody shows up and it’s awkward because the Charismatic guys are afraid of scaring the baptists etc etc. So we went with lousy expectations. I was asked to co lead worship and we didn’t know what to do. We decided on Open the eyes, Forever, and blessed be your name. The service opened with the churches trumpet player and huge pipe organ. Wow the hymns like that are sweet. Then 3 pastors preached then worship then hymn and 2 more pastors. Each one preached for 5 min. Let me tell you this service was the start of something huge…it was brilliant. The pastors preached that we are better together. IT’s obvious words but I think that maybe once in my Christian life I may see some pastors actual act on that.

Sunday service:
Good service this week. It’s the week before advent and it’s called Christ the king. We opened with Before the Throne of God which went ok but it my hands were not doing what my brain wanted.
Did a prayer and jumped into my new favorite song Say so. This is a killer song for just getting fired up for Christ…the rest of the Praise set was good as well ending in an original Hallelujah Love Song (written by me and Debbie Hanlon) As a matter of fact I just picked up a web cam. Horay for jumping on board 5 years late. lol. I still have to tweak the audio settings because I’ve got a little crackle, but here is me testing out the cam with that song. (expect much much more, so add me to your youtube watch list)
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMhPFxQJxZ8]
If you see any originals and want chords or anything let me know because I would love for other churches to be blessed by this stuff as well.
Before the sermon we did thats my King video…AWESOME!
Communion came and we did a few including my new slow fav. Nothing without you: Bebo Norman. If your not doing this one, you should.

All in all a good service, but for me that thanksgiving service was the highlight of the week.
Cya next time. Same bat channel

Interesting week… I am about to get real here so strap on your helmet.

It has been a tough week with family, emotions, money, kids, pregnant wife, and blogging friends who are going through major trials. (and before there are any crazy thoughts…My marraige is just fine…that isn’t the issues…My wife rocks) I have been really focusing on God this week, but it seems that I was dreading Sunday morning. Basically too much crap going on. So what does I guy do…Pray. yes talk yes. all good answers, but it was still an unavoidably tough week and the peace wasn’t coming.

So church starts this morning…all these thoughts flying through my head. I do not want to be there. I want to be at home on the couch doing nothing. Funny thing is I am more than justified in feeling this way.

Worship starts with Did You Feel the mountains tremble.

“Open up the doors and let the music play let the streets resound”

It went great. People got really into it from the start…Thank the Lord he can work through a crappy vessel like me.

Next comes prayers and the praise set. I had a good time playing just because I love to play but my mind was not where it needed to be. Things started to change we we came to All we need.
I ended the song repeating..

“All we need…All we Need…All we need is You”

God was starting to push into me..I’m not really receiving it

Sermon…I hear it was good…But here is brutal honesty…I wouldn’t know…I wasn’t really listening.

I sang Bless his name before communion

“Lord we come with gratitude that flows…from deep within our souls…we rejoice in You”

That was me mister thankful…are you kidding…things are a mess…simply that…and I am to be thankful

Communion….

Invitation Fountain:

” all who are weak…all who are weary come to the rock…come to the fountain.”

It hit me…well God hit me…I needed to come to the fountain of mercy….the table of the Lord…remember what He did…and what he promises to do.

” He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.”

I love that verse…there is however a difference to loving a verse or enjoying it and actually standing on the word and the Kings firm foundation.

It’s odd…I have been reading in the blogsphere…God will prune and then expect bigger. Steven Furtick said expect freakin watermelons. I DO!

Apostle Paul was in jail and praised His king…I recently read a bout a woman losing her baby girl and she is praising the King

We went into O Praise him…

I will turn my ear to heaven and hear HIS joyous noise. I will make MY praises constant and rejoice in my Savior. I will thank my God for giving me the most wonderful wife and kids. All else around me may be Wack…I will still Praise Him.

“PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW…”

Great set this week.

This was a really cool service because in the middle of it we had a renewing of vows ceremony for an awesome couple in our church. This is a couple who not only got to renew their vows but got to dedicate their marriage to the King. Gotta love that!

So we opened this week with All creatures of Our God and King. This has to be one of my top 5 favorite hymns. I love it. We did it crowder style of course.
Then we had prayers and went into our gloria in a lower key to be a ble to transition better into the raucous Dancing Generation. This song gets the church pumped up and people hopping around. It is very cool to see people get into God like that.
After that we did some changes to the original list going into Friend of God and Holy God (doerksen). Holy God to me is one of the top worship songs out there. It comes from Doerksens last CD and it hits me every time.

Then You Amaze me by Michael Neale. Another top 5 for me. His stuff is brilliant and that song is so powerful.

I’ll skip the rest…and just say that the service was very worshipful and awesome because we were worshiping A God who puts together marriages and keeps them together.

Last song. My redeemer lives. I decided to funk it up a bit with bluesy 7th chords and my les paul with a bit of grit. The result…great fun.

Cya next week

Welcome back to one of the original Text-Fessionals. woot!.
Pretty great sunday this week. I opened with Raise up the Crown (a hail the power) from the Passion Hymns CD. I love this re-arrangemen. If you don’t have that CD and you have been living under a rock on a remote island. Find yourself a boat and get thee to your nearest CD store now!.

We did the Gloria this week in D and went right into More than Ever. Robbie Reider is one of my favorite worship leaders and this song is brilliant. We have been practicing it for a year now and never introduced it because of the tons of other new stuff to do. This week we did it and I think the congregation really loved it. It seemed a little forced to go into In Christ alone next. There are some limitations when you are lacking a band like we are right now. Ending a song doesnt feel like an actual ending so to cut right into a hymn was a little wierd. The lyrics however are awesome.
We ended the praise with Vicky beeching’s Above all Else. great lyrics and just a real nice slow song. It really makes you focus on Christ.

Jesus, my passion in life is to know You
May all other goals bow down toThis journey of loving You more
Jesus, You’ve showered Your goodness on me
Given Your gifts so freely
But there’s one thing I’m longing for
Hear my heart’s cry
And my prayer for this life

Above all else
Give me Yourself

During offering I did my communion Song. I ended up doing it in F#. I love this song. gets me ever time. It is Christ talking to us. Telling us that going to the cross was for us because we are His children made in Him.

You are a child of God
fearfully and wondrously made
holy anointed one
You were created in me
nothing compares to My love

We did a couple of oldies for communion. I could sing and Better is one day. I still love those songs. Classics.
And then we ended repeating More Than Ever.

All in all a great service. the sermon was on Jonah and will be the next few weeks. This week was taking notice of the storms in our life.

I will see you back next week. CAIO!

ok so normally I do the Text-Fessional within the set list post. Those days are over folks. Now I do this because I don’t have a video camera, but I am thinking of going to Audio-Fessionals. That would put me on a different list though.

Alright enough of that…So last week I had a discussion with the pastor about our services and a bunch of visitors commented that the service was too long. Let me preface by saying that almost 90% of the church goers here are roman catholic and are very used to 1 hour services. Ours ran around 1 hour 45 min. Not too long, but longer then Roman catholic service. We do readings and creed, communion, and liturgy…along with that tons of music that is woven into the service from modern to old to liturgical. That is our church identity. We call it 3 streams blended worship. My definition of blended worship is not mixing hymns with matt redman. It is mixing the old with the new. Our service is framed around the Lords table and everything culminates at communion.

The 3 streams are Charismatic (moving in the spirit…rock n roll, tongues, etc…), Sacramental (Communion etc…), and evangelical (Bible based… gotta love the word!)

So with that said we had to shorten the service a little without messing with the integrity of what we are. So I did a poll and tons of people helped me out. we shortened the sermon to 30 min and moved a little aroung and ended the service in 1.5 hours. BRILLIANT! it worked and nobody was the wiser.

Uh…moving on to the music..

Great set this week..opened with I know that my redeemer lives. Great hymn…Mark Heard did a great version of it on the at the foot of the cross CD’s from the choir.

Went into the gloria…dropped the key from D to C..

Then we broke the fast song at the start mold and went into classic rushing Wind…it was a great song to open the praise set…prepare our heart…

“Jesus Your the one Who set my spirit free”

And then right into O Praise him chorus…and the rest of the song…I love this song its a real call to worship and and illustrates us singing with all of creation and the angels above.

Jumped into You amaze me…ok this song is from Michael Neale…I was first introduced to this at the integrity worship conference a few months ago and I can’t stop listening to it. This song just tugs at my spirit. It was amazing.

“You amaze me, You amaze me…and I’m overwhelmed by Your great love and mercy”

that line…wow He is amazing.. and unfathomable.

We did My new song that I co-wrote with my dad More of You. This song has really become a favorite with our church. People come up to me every week because the words just get into there sprirt.

“Take the world, give me You….Take my Heart Lord and make it new”

Communion we did the sanctus and mystery of faith (Liturgical music) ..And then into one of the best cross songs ever Sweetly Broken. Brilliant song and really makes you focus and tune into what Christ did for us. Then into super slow version of bless his name…and when communion ended I sped it up to normal tempo and volume. The 2 songs were perfect….thank you for the cross…thanks you for the blood….and then into…come sing for joy and bless his name.

Then we ended with Never Let Go…nuff said that song is just freakin’ great…and the congregation just loves it.

Ok there it is…see you next week; same bat channel.

Calvary Chapel Jupiter Worship CD BUY NOW

Last week Jeff at Calvary Chapel Jupiter emailed me and asked if he could send me his new CD in exchange for a review. I said…duh..of course. It showed up and I got my first look at it. Not let me preface this. Along with being a worship leader I am also a graphic designer so I am very picky when it comes to crappy design. So this thing is in my hands and I look at the cover and go “WOW” finally a non signed artist actually put something together that looks good. I unwrap the plastic and it just as cool inside. It’s not in a plastic case, but in one of those cool double door cardoard cases with the CD in the middle. Super clean design which I love. Not mainstream and no clip art. Already I am intrigued.
Pop the sucker into my CD player and the first song hits me right away. Very foo fighters sounding. Great guitar riffs and drive. Does it stop there? I dont think so. Great song writing and it doesnt get stuck in a typical style or lyrically.

Highlights:
Glorified: great song and uses the ebow which in my book takes it up 3 notches
Unchanging: great medium tempo song with a very singable lyric and melody. I WILL BE USING THIS SONG IN CHURCH
Marvelous: very matt redmon beautiful news sounding. great feel to this song. I love it
You Deserve it all: very modern sound also very reminiscent of the new redman style. I think this song is also a must do.
Worthy of the Call: wow…just wow..
of course there are more…honestly this CD is brilliant and very surprising.

Production
These guys did a great job with this. I really hate overly produced musi. you know the stuff that goes through a yuck filter. Well this CD is great because the production is top notch yet you still walk away feeling like these guys can actually achieve this in one of their services. The vocals stand out and Jeff has a great voice. The guitar sounds are modern but also have a real classic tube driven sound to them

Conclusion
This is a must buy CD. There are some great songs on here that any church can incorporate. I think a few of them I will have to lower the key a little, but these are more than church ready. right now my band is in a transition so I am running all acoustic and I still think I can pull off the rockier ones.
Great CD 4 out of 4 Stars

Thanks Jeff
