Archives For liturgy

My dad (fr. dave) wrote a definition of the church for this past sundays sermon and I thought it was awesome. This really explains who the church is better than anything I have ever read. Enjoy.

The Church is the community of people who were purchased for God by the payment of Jesus’ blood.
It is where Jesus lives by His Spirit;
It is where the spiritual gifts, given to the people of God by the Spirit of God, are seen and active;
It is where the Word of God (the Bible) is faithfully and accurately taught and applied;
And it is where the Sacraments (the grace giving rites of the Church) are given, shared and enjoyed.

It is through the Church that the ministry of Jesus continues on the earth;
That the Good News about who Jesus is, and what he did for us, is brought to others;
That the restoring of our broken relationship with God is offered and given,
And that God’s Kingdom is declared to the whole world.

Here is what we are doing for Good Friday. I took the order of service from Jordan because it was fantastic. I added and took away a bunch of stuff.

Everything in Red are the songs being sung. The service layout with going to black is really a Tenebrae Service which is typically done on Maundy Thursday, but I really like this order and I think it is going to be fantastic. We will end it with writing our sins on paper, lighting them and putting them in a bowl on the altar

We are working on some projected visuals for each section along with working on the look with some large paintings in the vein of the Jesus Painter.

MAKE SURE YOU READ ON…so CLICK the more button. Any Thoughts?

Blended Worship Conference?

September 4, 2007 — 13 Comments

There is a little buzz in the CECWorship camp and I wanted to pose this question to everybody who reads this. In the CEC (my denomination) we are working on a worship conference for next year. One idea is to make it similar to Integrity with the way the sponsor seminars4worship. This would make the conference not just for one denomination but open to all.
It would be a blended worship conference. Seminars would include: guitar, bass, vocals, keys, drums, misc instruments, digital techniques, Innovative slide/presentation design, Web/blog presence, blending hymns with modern, hymns, communion, liturgy, prayers, creeds, and spoken word, choirs, how to have worship without a band, worship flow, sensitivity to the spirit, song writing, and much much more.

Ok so the questions of the day.

Would you go to a Blended Worship Conference in the Northeast in 2008 sposored by the CEC and CECWorship?

What would you like to see at a conference like that?

How does the Fall of 2008 sound?
