    Palm Sunday song set:

    Processional 1:

Hosanna in the Highest – Carl Tuttle (not sure what key, as one of the guitarists played it, not me)

    Processional 2:

Bb – All Glory, Laud and Honor – Theodulph of Orleans (Neale)

D – At the Name of Jesus – Noel
C – Be Unto Your Name – Lynn DeShazo, Gary Sadler

    G – Amazing Grace

    C – O Sacred Head, Now Wounded

No recessional; as it was Palm Sunday, all clergy recessed in silence.

The tune for “All Glory, Laud and Honor” can be heard at:

Unfortunately, I don’t know who wrote the tune we use for “At the Name of Jesus.” It’s not one of the standard ones I grew up singing, which makes me believe it’s a more modern one.

Update on Palm sunday…It went really well with the new hosana from Christ the king CEC in the south.

It was an upbeat rejoicing sunday of course.

This was our first week singing the sanctus. it was a version from an early 90’s alternative worship CD from michael knott. He was the mastermind behind LSU band.

David danced of course a requested crowd favorite….we mix a little salvador with a lot of doobie brothers on that one.

Okay, I tried posting this earlier, but apparently something went wrong with it.

Processional 1 (while parading around the parish hall with palm branches):

    Hosanna – Carl Tuttle

    Processional 2 (entering the nave):

Bb – All Glory, Laud and Honor – Theoldolph of Orleans

    G – Amazing Grace – Newton

D – At the Name of Jesus – Noel
C – Be Unto Your Name – Lynn DeShazo, Gary Sadler

    C – O Sacred Head, Now Wounded – Bernard of Clairvaux/J.S. Bach

No recessional; as it was Palm Sunday, clergy recessed in silence.

The music for “All Glory, Laud and Honor” can be found at

I’m not sure where the music we used for “At the Name of Jesus” comes from. It’s a modern setting, not one of the traditional hymn tunes.

    Darren…thanks again

hosanna – tuttle where can I get that?

nice on the all glory laud…great hymn

    and of cource amazing grace

Interesting choice on O sacred head now wounded. We are doing that for good friday… why did you choose that for palm sunday?

I have never seen the clergy recess in silence for palm sunday not in RI or even in the cathedral church in NY. is this something your church normally for palm sunday?

    nice list…Take care

Tuttle’s song is CCLI 21545. It’s from the early 1980s, I believe. Very singable, and very easy chords, which is helpful when the guitarist is processing along with the congregation. I remember singing it in Christian school during the late 1980s.

A clip of it is here:

“O Sacred Head” was chosen because of the gospel reading, Luke 23:1-49, the crucifixion story. We’re only doing one song on Good Friday, and since the service involves veneration of the cross, we chose “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” by Isaac Watts.

In regards to the recessional in silence, I believe this is a Catholic/Anglican tradition, due to the “schizophrenic” nature of the Palm Sunday liturgy (my priest’s word). It starts off rejoicing and ends up on Calvary. See, e.g.,

    Thanks for your feedback!

Unfailing Love is by Chris Tomlin, Cary Pierce and Ed Cash
    CCLI Song Number 4403227
You can also find it on Song Discovery #47 Song #10.

It’s a great worshipful song with a simple sound. A little funny on the timing, but very singable still. It’s originally written in Ab, but G is easier to sing.
